Networker Command mminfo output details meaning
mminfo output and Meaning of saveset flags:
The save set ssflags summary are as follows: CvrENiRPKIFk
C = Continued
v = valid
r = purged (recoverable)
E = Eligible for recycling
N = NDMP generated
i = incomplete
R = Raw (not for savesets backed up using rawasm)
P = snapshot
K = cover
I = In-progress
F = Finished (ended)

The save set sumflags field summary are as follows:
The first flag in the sumflags field shows which part of the saveset resides on the specified tape. The possible values are:
c = Complete (the entire saveset resides on this tape volume)
h = Head (the head, or start of the saveset resides on this tape volume)
m = Middle (the middle of the saveset resides on this tape volume)
t = Tail (the end of the saveset resides on this volume)
The second flag byte shows the status of the saveset. We will not be using this flag in our cloning script, the possible values for this flag byte are:
b = Browsable
r = Recoverable
a = Saveset was aborted
I = Saveset is still in progress
E = Eligible for recycling
S = Saveset was scanned in
i = Incomplete saveset
The clone's clflags summary are as follows: aios

Query the media database to determine which save sets are NDMP save sets and the status of an NDMP save set in the media database. NDMP save set status information is
important when performing NDMP recoveries.
- To perform a browseable NDMP recover, the ssflags (fl) field for an NDMP save set must contain a (b). The b value denotes a brows able save set.
- To perform a save set recover from the NetWorker User program, the ssflags (fl) field for an NDMP save set must contain either (r) or (b).
- An NDMP save set contains an N attribute in the ssflags (fl) field.
- An NDMP-DSA save set contains an s attribute in the ssflags (fl) field.
In the following example, the NDMP save set status is recoverable (r). To recover the data, you can only perform a save set recovery from a command line.
In the following example, the NDMP-DSA save set status is brows able (b). Recover the data by using the NetWorker User program, or from the command line. A browseable NDMP-DSA save set supports brows able and save set recoveries.

Data Domain Boost
What is Data Domain Boost:
EMC Data Domain Boost software, also known as DD Boost, is designed to offload part of the Data Domain deduplication process to a backup server or application client. That prevents the Data Domain disk array from having to carry the full burden of the dedupe workload. The software is designed to increase backup speed while decreasing network bandwidth needs. This is particularly advantageous when backups are being written to an off-site Data Domain system over a wide-area network, which may have significant bandwidth limitations.
Rather than sending all data to the Data Domain system for deduplication processes, DD Boost enables/install the backup server or application client to send only unique data segments across the network to the Data Domain system. This reduces the amount of data transferred over the network by 80 to 99 percent. The Data Domain Boost software provides:
Faster, More Efficient Backup: Distributes parts of the deduplication process to backup server or application client - 50% faster backups and up to 99% less network bandwidth required.
Simplified Disaster Recovery: Enables application to control Data Domain replication process with full catalog awareness.

Faster, More Efficient Backup:
EMC Data Domain Boost distributes parts of the deduplication process to the backup server or application clients, enabling client-side deduplication for faster, more efficient backup and recovery. With Data Domain Boost, the server only sends unique data segments to a Data Domain system.
Advanced Load Balancing, Link Failover and Dynamic Client Routing:
The Data Domain system then transparently balances the backup load between links in the group and automatic link failover keeps backup jobs operational in case of temporary network glitches. In addition, the Data Domain system can improve network utilization by dynamically routing clients between networks.
Single point of management:
With EMC Data Domain Boost for Backup Applications, backup administrators can control replication between multiple Data Domain systems from a single point of management to track all backups and duplicate copies.
Simplified Disaster Recovery:
This allows administrators to efficiently create disaster recovery (DR) copies of their backups over a wide area network (WAN) using EMC Data Domain Replicator as well as keep track of all the copies in the backup application’s catalog for easy disaster recovery.

EMC Data Domain
Data Domain Corporation
was an Information Technology company from 2001-2009 specializing in
target-based deduplication solutions for disk based backup.[1] Since its
acquisition by EMC Corporation in 2009, Data Domain was founded by Kai Li, Ben
Zhu, and Brian Biles.[2] Chief Architect Hugo Patterson joined 3 months after
initial funding. The first product revenue was in the beginning of 2004.
In June 2009, EMC
Corporation announced their intention to acquire Data Domain Corp for $2.4B,
outbidding NetApp's previous offer.[5] In July, the two companies reached
definitive agreement regarding the acquisition. Since then, Data Domain systems
have been a product line brand within the EMC Core Technologies portfolio.
According to IDC, EMC in 2014 captured 62.3% share of the market for
purpose-built backup devices worldwide. The majority of this share was from
Data Domain product revenue.
